Military plane makes emergency landing in Baku

A Belgium-owned military plane en route from Brussels to
Kandahar through Baku made an emergency landing at the Heydar
Aliyev International Airport of the Azerbaijani capital on Tuesday
morning, the spokesman for Azerbaijan’s state airline AzAL has told
AssA-Irada.
Maharram Safarli said the plane, owned by the Bargo Alfa Fox
company, had refilled fuel in Baku and was traveling further to
Kandahar, but it was diverted back on its way.
The reason for the airliner’s turning back was the threat of fire
in the second engine of the plane that had 14 passengers and nine
crew members on board, Safarli said.
He added that the plane is currently in Baku and it is unknown at
this point when it will leave for Kandahar.*
