The U.S and international community should warn Armenia to refrain from military attacks and to adopt a constructive method for the settlement of the conflict, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said at an online panel meeting held by the Turkish Heritage Organization on July 28.

During the meeting, touching upon the recent tension between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the Turkish defence minister noted: “Turkey condemns the Armenian military attacks and supports the peaceful settlement of the conflict within the framework of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. The U.S and international community should warn Armenia to refrain from military attacks and to adopt a constructive method for the settlement of the conflict.”

Moreover, speaking about the coronavirus pandemic, the fight against terrorism, the use of S-400 anti-missile systems, the legal aspects of the F-35 program, Turkey's foreign policy and other issues, Akar stressed that Turkey's position on national interests remains unchanged.

It should be noted that the panel meeting was held on "Turkey's national defence strategy and recent developments in the region" by the Turkish Heritage Organization, one of the most influential think tanks, based in Washington D.C.

Earlier, on July 22, Turkey's National Security Council emphasized in a statement that Armenia must put an end to its aggressive attitude and withdraw its troops from occupied Azerbaijani territories, adding that Turkish people will defend any decision brotherly Azerbaijan takes in its rightful cause.
