Hot weather continues to spread across Azerbaijan. An abnormal heat will be observed in July and August compared with June.

This was stated by the head of public relations and propaganda department of the Environmental Propaganda Department at the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Tagiyeva.

Despite the fact that relatively cool weather is expected in early June, the air temperature will be close to the climatic norm and even slightly higher.

“Hot weather will be observed in July and August. Based on preliminary forecasts and the trend of recent years, we can say that July and August are the hottest months in Azerbaijan, especially Baku,” she told Trend.

Tagiyeva stressed that abnormally hot weather for the last 10 years is observed not only in Azerbaijan, but all over the world.

Earlier, American space agency NASA reported that Earth just broiled to its hottest month in recorded history, as July 2016 was the hottest month in the world for over the past 136 years, or 0.84 degrees Celsius warmer than the 1950-1980 global average.

Last year, the whole country experienced abnormally hot weather which began on June 23.

The air temperature in Baku and Absheron Peninsula was 3 degrees above the climatic norm.

The Ministry for Labor and Social Protection of Population warned employers of hot weather and urged to take necessary measures to protect the life and health of workers.

In the previous years, hot weather in Baku and Absheron peninsula was also observed in July. The temperature in Baku reached 40 ˚C on July 12, 2010 and July 22, 2011.
