Appeals for pardon being considered in Azerbaijan

In accordance with the humane policy of the Azerbaijani state and President Ilham Aliyev, attention is always paid to appeals for pardon in the country, Azerbaijani MP, member of the Pardon Issues Commission under the President of Azerbaijan Azay Guliyev told Trend.
He said that only the head of state can sign a pardon order.
“The Pardon Issues Commission constantly receives appeals to the president of Azerbaijan,” the MP said. “These appeals are continuously reviewed and, taking into account the relevant opinions and recommendations of state agencies, are submitted to the commission for discussion. After studying each received appeal in detail, the commission makes appropriate decisions in accordance with its regulations. Currently, this process continues.”
The last order on pardon was signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on March 16, 2017. As many as 423 people were pardoned according to the order.
