Baku and Kiev discussed bilateral ties, as Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade has met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, who paid a visit to Baku on October 3.

Rasizade emphasized that bilateral relations with Ukraine reached the level of strategic partnership. He pointed out wide opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the spheres of industry, energy, transport, logistics, agriculture, investments, tourism, and infrastructure.

Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the PM described it as Azerbaijan`s most serious problem, adding that the conflict poses a major threat to the whole region.

Klimkin, in turn, noted the necessity of developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.

He said Kiev stand for resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on norms of international law and inviolability of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and its borders.

At the meeting with speaker of Azerbaijan`s Parliament Ogtay Asadov, Klimkin underlined the high level of cooperation between the two countries.

Asadov, for his part, said that Azerbaijan and Ukraine are strategic partners.

He emphasized that reciprocal visits of heads of state play crucial role in the development of relations between the two sides. He also hailed the activity of working groups in parliaments of both countries.

Earlier on this day, Klimkin met with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov, where the sides talked about economic and other important issues.
