Azerbaijan`s senior electoral body has announced the results of the March 18 referendum on constitutional changes. The announcement was made on Monday.
According to the final tallies made public by the Central Election Commission (CEC), all amendments and other changes to 29 articles of the Constitution, which had been placed on the ballot, were supported by 87% to 92% of the voters.
Also, the CEC members said they have forwarded most of the 180 reports of possible election irregularities compiled by campaign groups to the Prosecutor-General`s Office for consideration.
The nationwide election covered a number of changes to the Constitution, including one on removing a two-term limit on the president, an issue that had long been in the spotlight of the local and international community.
