Belarus completing Garlyk plant’s construction in Turkmenistan

During the visit of Chairman of the Belarusian National Assembly Council Mikhail Myasnikovich to Ashgabat, issues were considered on the completion of construction and opening of the Garlyk mining and processing plant, scheduled for March 31, 2017, said the Council’s press release.

The Belarusian Belgorkhimprom JSC has been constructing the plant worth more than one billion US dollars since June 2009. The plant is intended for the production of 1.400 million tons of fertilizers per year.

Garlyk, which is the largest potassium salt field, located in Koytendag district of Turkmen Lebap province, will be the raw material base.

“The new industrial giant has great importance for social and economic development of the Lebap province and the entire country; it will allow establishing the production of high-quality potassium mineral fertilizers that will completely meet the needs of Turkmen agriculture, will allow them to be supplied to the world market,” wrote the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper in its report about the Garlyk plant.
