The outlook for the future of Azerbaijan connected with the youth of the country is optimistic.
Ali Hasanov, the Assistant of the President of Azerbaijan for Socio-Political Affairs made the remark during the conference on the 25th anniversary of the restoration of Azerbaijan’s state independence held in Baku on November 10.
Titled “Youth and the state independence: Vision of the Future” the conference was attended by Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov, parliamentarians and representatives of youth organizations.
Hasanov stressed that the Azerbaijani state provides special support to education of young people, adding that the youth is ready to represent the country, and already represents Azerbaijan at all levels.
He said that Azerbaijani youth should learn the main basic trends of development in science, education and technology.
"The youth, who grew up during the independence years, knows foreign languages, foreign technology, all technological and innovative achievements. With this youth, we can confidently look, and already look to the future. Today, young generation and our experienced members of the intelligentsia side by side work in legislation, judiciary, and media. The energy of the younger generation coupled with the experience of the older generation and this compose the power of the state," he said.
Hasanov also praised the activity of the youth in the political life of the country.
Speaking about the state care of the youth, he noted that soon after coming to power in 1993 Heydar Aliyev first held a meeting with the representatives of Azerbaijani youth. "Young people were involved in the political and civil confrontation in the country then," he underscored. "First of all, Heydar Aliyev created the Youth and Sport Ministry. Then the Youth Day was established, and State Youth programs were prepared."
"If to compare the youth of the early 1990's with today's youth, we can see that they are very different. Azerbaijani youth has achieved notable success for the last 25 years. Young people are actively involved in the process of state-building," he said.
Hasanov mentioned that today youth comprise the majority of positions in the state structures. He said that progress made in youth policy should also be applied for successes achieved by Azerbaijan in all spheres.
Azerbaijani youth must be competitive in the world. It should learn and apply in Azerbaijan successes in all areas, which have already been achieved by the world youth, he said.
