Exhibition devoted to Sakit Mammadov opens in Baku

An exhibition displaying the works of a famous Azerbaijan painter opened at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku on December 2.

Organized jointly by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center, the exhibition is devoted to the 55th anniversary of honored artist Sakit Mammadov.

Fifty five works of the painter are displayed at the exhibition.

Inaugurating the exhibition, chairperson of the Milli Majlis Committee for Regional Affairs Arif Rahimzadeh praised the artist's rich creativity and his contribution to Azerbaijan's art.

Rector of the Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University, deputy of the Milli Majlis Guljohra Mammadova, professor of Turkey's Yeddi Tepe University, artist Rafig Aziz, and people's Artist Salhab Mammadov talked about Sakit Mammadov's creative art.

Mammadov was presented with the awards of UNESCO and Turkey's Yeddi Tepe University at the event.

Sakit Mammadov finished the Azerbaijan State School of Arts (named after A. Azimzadeh) in 1978 and then graduated from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts (named after Ilya Repin) in 1987.

His works have been displayed at 37 exhibitions, and his six individual exhibitions were held in Istanbul, Stockholm, Baku, Moscow, and Brussels.

Mammadov was decorated with the Order of "Glory" by a presidential order. He is also a member of UNESCO Union of Artists and the Russian Imperial Academy of Arts.

The exhibition, which will last until December 12, provides an opportunity for the visitors to enjoy many artistic works such as "Small clowns", "May", "A gardener", "Flowering Azerbaijan", "I Am Tired", "Preparation for a Scene", "Going to an Engagement Ceremony", "Actress", and "Lady-friends".
