Lithuanian movie to be screened in Baku
BAKU – A Lithuanian movie by Giedre Beinoriute will be screened in Baku on Sunday.
The "Balcony" movie tells an amazing story about the first love of eleven-year-old kids and their parents‘ divorce.
"It’s a lovely movie about pure love which is also reminding us of the life in the [former] Soviet Union. Therefore, it will bring the memories of the years of youth for the older generation and show the life in the 80s for our youngsters," Lithuania’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kestutis Kudzmanas said.
In 2009 the Lithuanian embassy in Azerbaijan presented a few other Lithuanian movies to the Azerbaijani public – "Forest of Gods" by A. Puipa and "Before Flying Back to Earth" by A. Matelis.
The "Balcony" is being screened within the European Movie Festival, being organized by the European Union’s delegation in Azerbaijan jointly with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the embassies of the EU member-states.
The festival runs until next Thursday, and entrance is free for everyone. The event is taking place in Rotunda Room at the Landmark Business Center.
The event is aimed at building and developing cultural links between the EU countries and Azerbaijan and contributing to better understanding of the European values and cultures.
The festival includes screening of films from 14 EU countries represented in Azerbaijan. The films touch various social and global themes that are of concern to various strata of the society in Europe, ranging from immigration, unemployment, bureaucracy, aging to global warming issues.
All the films presented at the European Movie Festival are provided with English subtitles with some having also Azerbaijani or Russian subtitles.
