Azercell supports mentally impaired kids` art exhibition
An exhibition of art work created by mentally impaired school children was held in Baku May 6-10 with the support of Azercell, Azerbaijan`s leading cellular operator.
The exhibition, which took place in the Absheron Art Gallery under the ``Let Your Life Flourish!`` slogan, featured some 60 exquisite drawings painted by over 40 children attending School No. 268 in the Nasimi district of the capital, Azercell said.
The exhibition, organized jointly by the Yeni Azerbaijan newspaper, the Nasimi Executive Authority and supported by Azercell Telecom LLC, is dedicated to the 87th birthday of Azerbaijan`s late national leader, former President Heydar Aliyev.
Bio-composition, graphic samples, applications, fine embroidery and mixed technique were used to paint the drawings. The children were very innovative and used various art supplies such as beads, color pencils, watercolors, and felt-tip pens.
Attending the opening of the exhibition was the leadership of the governing Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party (YAP), members of the Milli Majlis (parliament), senior officials of the Nasimi district and Azercell representatives.
Addressing the ceremony, Ulviyya Hasanzade, head of Azercell`s Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility section, noted that her company has been committed to facilitating the implementation of projects supporting child development.
Hasanzade said Azercell is one of the first companies to have applied corporate social responsibility in Azerbaijan. ``We have always been closely involved and are proud to support the events which play an important role in the lives of our children and youths as well as their development, and thus contribute to the bright future of our country.``
She noted that the drawings exhibited by the school children were very impressive and the children clearly demonstrated their creativity through the artworks displayed.
``We were very impressed when we saw the artworks and were flattered by the skills and imagination our children possess. Indeed, their passion, subtle thoughts, patriotism, respect for the elder generation and their friendly nature are clearly expressed through their artworks.``
As usual, Azercell remunerated the children`s efforts by awarding special gifts for the best paintings.
