Memory of the prominent Azerbaijani mugham singer Seyid Mirbabayev will be honored in Baku.

The event will take place at the International Mugham Center on September 24 as part of the "Unforgettable" project.

The main goal of the project is to provide information about the life and creative activity of prominent representatives of Azerbaijani art, composers, mugham singers who played an irreplaceable role in the history of Azerbaijani national music.

The project was launched on March 5, 2018 and was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding Azerbaijani composer Gara Garayev.

The International Mugham Center holds various projects for popularizing the mugham art and the national music in general. Among them are "Unforgettable", "Mugham evenings", "Dastan evenings", "Ashig music" etc.

Seyid Mirbababyev was an Azerbaijani mugham singer and oil industrialist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

He lived and worked in Baku and took an active part in mugham music meetings in the capital.

The singer was frequent guest at Baku weddings. One of those weddings changed the life of the singer as the groom's uncle gifted an oil well to Mirbabayev. Later, a strong oil fountain gushed in this land, turning Mirbabayev into a millionaire.

He moved to Paris after the establishment of Soviet power in Azerbaijan in 1920. Mirbabayev died in Tehran in 1953.
