Puccini's opera to be staged in Baku

Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater continues to please Baku audience with world-famous operas.

Giacomo Puccini's opera "La Boheme" will be staged at the theater on May 12.

For the role of Tosca, the management of the Opera Theater invited the Italian opera singer Silvana Froli. Her tours gained great success in opera houses of Belgium, Germany, Norway, England, Spain and in the U.S.

Vitaly Kovalchuk, who now lives and works in Italy, will play the role of Cavaradossi.

The role of Scarpia will be performed by the soloist of the Belarus Academic Opera and Ballet Theater Vladimir Gromov.

The foreign artists will share the stage with the soloists of the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theater Ali Asgarov and Akram Poladov, honored artists Jahangir Gurbanov, Aliahmad Ibrahimov and others.

The opera will be conducted by Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli, who is the chief conductor of the Macedonian State Opera and Ballet Theater.

He has been the guest conductor of the best Italian orchestras such as the Tuscany Regional Symphony Orchestra, Abruzzo Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Lecce and Salento, Puccini Philharmonic Orchestra, Bari Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Salerno "Claudio Abbado" and international orchestras such as the Istanbul National Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, Tbilisi National Opera House, etc.

Tosca is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. It was premiered at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome on January 14, 1900.

The opera contains some of Puccini's best-known lyrical arias.
