Inflation may hit 23% in Azerbaijan by the year-end, the State
Statistics Committee chairman Arif Valiyev has said.
"In my opinion, the year 2008 will end with 22-23% inflation levels," he said.
The figure made up 16.7% in 2007. As for this year, the Azerbaijani government had initially predicted it at 12-13% but later raised the projection to 18%.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has predicted inflation in Azerbaijan at 20% in 2008.
