The Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry has developed a strategy on the development of the agricultural sector up to 2020.

Deputy Agriculture Minister Bahram Aliyev told reporters on Tuesday that the draft strategy will soon be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers.

The strategy covers four main areas: development of crop, livestock development, preservation of land areas and issues of marketing and sale of agricultural products.

Aliyev said that earlier the ministry has prepared and submitted to the government a draft state program on the development of the agricultural sector for 2013-2020. Preparation of the documents required by the concept of agricultural development is approved by the President.

Earlier, Agriculture Minister Ismet Abbasov stated that new concept on agriculture development will be drafted in Azerbaijan. The concept will reflect the specialization of the country's regions depending on climatic and environmental conditions, opportunities for the development of agriculture, etc.

Abbasov said the decision on developing such a concept was made following the conference on the results of the fourth year of implementing the state program on socio-economic development of Azerbaijani regions in 2009-2013.
