New TRACECA projects in the offing
New projects to the tune of 26.5 million euros are to be
implemented within the TRACECA program in 2008-2009.
76 projects totaling 157 million euros have been realized so far,
the Azerbaijan secretariat of the TRACECA inter-governmental
commission said.
13.5 million euros will be spent on the projects this year.
The activities include expanding the Kazakh port of Aktau and
increasing the bulk of oil transported through the
Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export pipeline pumping Caspian oil to
world markets.
TRACECA (the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia) is a
large-scale initiative which began in Europe. It also stands for an
international organization of economic cooperation. Its programs
are handled by an intergovernmental commission of 14 countries in
the Eastern European, Caucasian and Central Asian regions.
