Azeri-Iranian turnover may rise to $10bn – envoy
TEHRAN - Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Tehran Javanshir Akhoundov
expressed his country's enthusiasm over bolstering economic and
trade relations with Iran, Fars News Agency reported.
"Given the two countries' abundant commonalities, we seek the
expansion of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, especially in
areas of trade and economy," Akhoundov said in a meeting with
Iranian businessmen and investors in Tehran on Sunday.
The envoy said he was not very pleased with the current level of
economic exchange between the two countries, adding that the annual
turnover was only worth $600m, with a potential of $10bn.
Akhoundov noted Iran’s progress and self-sufficiency in different
fields and stressed that Iran enjoys abundant development
infrastructure which can be utilized for both countries’
progress.
