Assets of Azerbaijan’s banking sector increased 3.1% in the first
quarter of 2010, the Central Bank said Thursday.
The bank’s statement says domestic banks saw their credit portfolios rise 1%, while the population’s depoists rose 2.5% in Q1.
"In this period banks drew more funds than their foreign spending," it said. "Their liquidity and financial sustainability remained high."
The Central Bank’s steering board also said inflation was within single digits in Q1 and was mainly influenced by overseas markets, price hikes in Azerbaijan’s trading partner states and seasonal factors.*
