Parliament upholds president`s veto on entrepreneurship law
The Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) on Tuesday
upheld President Ilham Aliyev`s veto on changes and addenda to the
law on entrepreneurship, canceling the amendments.
Ziyad Samadzada, chairman of the parliamentary committee on economic policy, said the changes, initially enacted on June 30, indicated that deputy heads of organizations founded by foreign nationals or businesses, including businesses 51 percent of whose capital stock is foreign-owned, have to be Azerbaijani citizens; their candidacies must be agreed with executive authorities.
Samadzada said President Aliyev had objected to the changes and sent them back to the legislature on August 14, seeking their invalidation. The committee on economic policy deemed the objection fair, and the amendments were cancelled.
