Azerbaijan will send an export mission to Russia in September 2017, according to Rufat Mammadov, Head of the Azerbaijan Export and Investments Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO).

“Before the end of this year, we plan to organize five more export missions. Tentatively, in September we will send a mission to Russia, and in October our export mission will visit China. We also consider sending export missions to the UAE and Saudi Arabia. It is possible that we will send two missions to one of the major countries,” he said.

Since early 2017, Azerbaijan has already sent export missions to Qatar (in February) and Kazakhstan (in April), as well as to Germany, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Eight export missions (China, Dubai, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar, Germany and Kazakhstan) with participation of the local producers were already organized within the framework of the promotion ‘Made in Azerbaijan’ brand launched in November 2016. The success was immediate, as Azerbaijan signed agreements on export of red wine to China and food products to the UAE, which are new markets for the country.

Also, agreements were reached on honey exports to Dubai, pomegranate juice to European markets, fruit juices to Afghanistan and Pakistan, pipes, polyethylene products to Pakistan, as well as street and city furniture supplies to Qatar.

In addition, at exhibitions in Dubai (Gulfood 2017) and Germany (Prowein), Azerbaijani companies received an order for exports of hazelnuts to Spain. The negotiations were also held for the export of fruits and vegetables, fruit juices, honey, dry milk, meat, tea, nuts to the countries of the Persian Gulf and access to trade networks operating in this region.

Azerbaijani AB Farma company, which produces Naftalan ointment, reached an agreement to export its products to Kazakhstan as an Azerbaijani export mission consisting of 19 companies met with their Kazakh counterparts in Astana this April.
