The frequencies released after the transition to digital broadcasting in Azerbaijan, will be used for the development of advanced mobile technology.

Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies Elmir Valizade said this on November 28 at the event dedicated to the opening of Bakutel 2016 to be held in the capital from November 29 to December 2.

Baku and Absheron peninsula switched to the full digital broadcasting from analog TV this November. The whole country will switch to the digital TV on December 1.

"In particular we are talking about such advanced mobile communication technologies such as the LTE, and that it is equally important that these possibilities were used for the development of "Internet of Things"," he said.

Work is underway in this regard, said Valizade, adding that as soon as the frequencies released, it will be possible to use them for the needs of mobile communications.

Digital broadcasting works by translating sound and picture into digital data rather than analogue waveforms. Digital links use data compression which in its turn provides for more efficient bandwidth usage as well as higher-quality signal. Digital broadcasting provides crystal-clear picture and sound without fading or interference and enables TV stations to broadcast multiple channels with different programming.

Valizade further touched upon the post services, saying that services of all structures of the Communications and High Technologies Ministry will be concentrated in the branches and offices of the postal operator Azerpoct.

The deputy minister said that currently a pilot project has been launched in the main post office of Azerpoct and in the near future it will cover all branches and subsidiaries of the postal operator, both in Baku and in the regions of Azerbaijan.

"The centralization of services under this principle would allow citizens apply to post offices for any questions relating to the activity of the Ministry, such as telephony services, Internet and other services," he said.

He further added that in the near future the largest DATA-center will be launched in the country, which will play an important role in the implementation of promising industrial projects in the future.

Resources of the center, according to him, will be available for both government agencies and private companies.

"DATA-center of Tier3 level, certificated by Uptime Institute, is the only one in the region and its opportunities will be available to a wider audience," said Velizade.

Every year for over 20 years, Bakutel, the largest exhibition in the region, has been bringing together leading players of the communications market. As the main arena for presenting IT products and services, Bakutel has acquired status as the main business platform where contacts are made and new businesses are created.

Azerbaijan's Communications and High Technologies Ministry of has shown invaluable support for Bakutel and has played a key role in establishing and developing the exhibition.

Bakutel, as the main industry event, is long awaited in Azerbaijan’s ICT industry. In addition to business meetings and talks, all visitors and exhibitors will be able to participate in competitions and quizzes, and get various surprises.
