Expats engaged in construction sector without permit
There have been cases of employing foreigners in
construction activities without official permits, Nabi Shukurlu,
the head of the State Labor Inspectorate, has said.
He added that the burgeoning construction in the capital was paving the way for the foreign workforce.
Shukurlu also disclosed the amounts of fines for employing an expatriate workforce without permits. "If a legal entity or a company employs a foreigner, without receiving a permit from the migration service, the heads of such companies may be fined as much as 30,000-35,000 manats (up to $43,000). If an expatriate employee works without an employment contract, a fine of 3,000 to 5,000 manats (up to $6,100) is imposed, while the business may have to pay 20,000 manats (up to $24,700)," he said.
He added that a Chinese citizen was killed in an accident on a construction site last year.
