Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang has urged Azerbaijan for more cooperation in oil and gas exploration at the meeting with the country’s Ambassador Anar Imanov in the city of Hanoi, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) News Agency reported on September 22.

Quang welcomed the establishment of the Vietnam-Azerbaijan Joint Committee on Economic, Trade, Science and Technology Cooperation.

The Vietnamese president proposed studying and soon signing an agreement on education and training to further bolster cooperation in this field.

The Azerbaijani ambassador in turn highlighted the important role played by the Vietnamese people who used to study or work in Azerbaijan in reinforcing the traditional relations between the two countries.

Imanov said Azerbaijan would like to open the Vietnamese Embassy in Baku in order to promote development of bilateral relations in economy, trade, culture and tourism.

He said he hopes the first meeting of the intergovernmental committee scheduled for October 2016 will open up new opportunities for broader cooperation in the future.
