Turkey puts new metro line into operation

A new metro line, stretching 9.2 kilometers, was put into operation in Ankara’s Kecioren district, the Turkish TRT Haber TV channel reported on August 31.

According to the TV channel, the new line includes nine stations.

The construction was launched in 2004 and the cost of the project amounted to 1 billion Turkish lira (official exchange rate on Aug. 31 is 2.9598 TL/USD), the message said.

Earlier, another new line was put into operation in the Turkish capital of Ankara in February 2014.

The length of the new line in Ankara, connecting 11 stations, reaches up to 15.5 kilometers. Its construction was launched in February 2012.

Ankara’s metro was put into operation in 1996. The total length of metro consisting of 34 stations is 60.4 kilometers.
