Memorial plaque to national leader Heydar Aliyev unveiled in Pyatigorsk

A memorial plaque to Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev has been unveiled at the sanatorium after Kirov in Pyatigorsk, the Russian Federation, AzerTag state news agency reported.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu, Deputy ambassador Gudsi Osmanov, Adviser for Diaspora Issues at the Embassy Agshin Aliyev, Executive Director of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress Ilgar Hajiyev, as well as journalists attended the unveiling ceremony.

Polad Bulbuloglu and Governor of the Stavropol Region of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirov unveiled the memorial plaque.

The portrait of Heydar Aliyev, who was the First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the USSR, President of Azerbaijan from 1993-2003, was engraved on the memorial plaque, which also reads that he spent his time at the sanatorium.

Opening the event, Vladimirov noted that national leader Heydar Aliyev was a legendary person who managed to get Azerbaijan back on its feet when it was on the verge of chaos and collapse.
Ambassador Bulbuloglu praised the unveiling of the memorial plaque, saying "such events bring the people of the two countries closer to each other".

"Although the memorial plaque is not that big in size, it is a big sign of friendship between our countries."

Expert on Mineralnye Vody city at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Leonid Filimonov hailed the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in developing industry in the regions of the Russian Federation.

He singled out a bridge built in Ulyanovsk, saying local residents call it "Aliyev`s bridge".
Chairman of the "Araz" Stavropol public regional organization, member of the Pyatigorsk Public Council Asad Gurbanov praised national leader Heydar Aliyev's activities for ensuring peace in the Caucasus.
