The first stage of the international Tank Biathlon competition was held within the International Army Games – 2017.
Azerbaijani tankmen, performing on the T-72B3 tank, completed the first stage of the competition in the second place in its group being ahead of the teams of Kuwait and Mongolia, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry reported on July 31.
The competition, which will last until August 12, involves 55 tank crews from 19 countries.
Moreover, the teams participating in the Sniper Frontier contest, which is held at the Otar military base in Kazakhstan within the International Army Games, completed preparations on the acceptance and adjustment of sniper rifles.
Snipers of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, participating in the competition will demonstrate their skills by shooting sniper rifles SVD-S.
The competition attended by 17 countries will be held in Kazakhstan on August 1-9.
The third International Army Games started in Russia on July 29. The Games, which are attended by more than 150 teams from 28 countries, will be held in Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and China until August 12.
Last year, Azerbaijan successfully performed in the Army Games. Participating in the contests Tank biathlon and Caspian Cup of the international military competition, representatives of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces became the winners of various stages in both categories. Azerbaijani military seamen ranked second at the Caspian Cup 2016 and were awarded with special medals.
Today, Azerbaijani Army is one of the most powerful, highly disciplined armies in the world and the leading army in the region, which is equipped with modern military machinery. The skills and combat readiness of the Azerbaijani army are growing year by year, as the country’s Armed Forces regularly conduct military exercises. The army building process in Azerbaijan is progressing as well.
