Georgia, EU discuss co-op prospects

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held his first meeting in Brussels with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule on February 3.
The sides discussed ongoing reforms in Georgia and the process of European integration. It was noted that reforms implemented in compliance with the European integration agenda are of utmost importance for ensuring Georgia's true modernization and Europeanization, the prime minister's press service reported.
The Georgian side reiterated its willingness to fulfil obligations assumed by it, expediting the process of reform and ensuring harmonization with European norms and policies.
The meeting also discussed issues pertinent to cooperation between the European Union and Georgia, namely, the prospects of signing of the Association Agreement. The parties hope that signing this agreement will create a new reality in relations between the European Union and Georgia.
Georgia initialed association agreement with the EU at a summit in Vilnius dedicated to the European Union's 'Eastern Partnership' countries - ex-Soviet states on November 29, 2013.
Garibashvili recently said Georgia will sign the EU association agreement in 2014.
