Iranian presidential candidate against compromise with US, P5+1
The candidate for upcoming presidential elections Mohsen Rezaei
said that Iran should never give opportunity to foreigners during
nuclear negotiations and keeping talks with increasing pressures on
Iran is unacceptable.
According to Fars news agency, he went on to say that Iran would
keep nuclear talks with P5+1, but never compromise against
them.
Iran and P5+1 (including France, the U.S., the UK, Russia, China
+ Germany) has held several times of nuclear talks during last two
years, whiteout coming to common point or achieving a result.
Rezaei mentioned Iran's economic problems, saying 70 percent of
current situation has been made by mismanagement of Ahmadinejad's
government.
He said that international sanctions are heaven, but the major
reason is internal.
Iran will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14.
The voters will select the successor of the current President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is not able to participate in the
elections for the third term according to the country's
constitutional laws.
The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national
election and the Guardian Council vets the candidates for
qualifications.
According to Rezaei, Iran's national currency, rial, lost three
times of its value during a year, while the major problem is
unemployment, inflation and poverty.
The International Monetary Fund said on April 16 that Iran's
economy is expected to shrink by 1.3 per cent this year as it reels
from the impact of Western sanctions.
The economy of the Islamic republic is, however, forecast to grow
next year by 1.1 per cent, the IMF said in its annual World
Economic Outlook.
Official inflation rate in Iran is above 31.5 percent, while
unemployment rate is about 14 percent.
