NATO offers new co-op package for Georgia
By Jamila Babayeva
NATO offers Georgia a new, basic package of cooperation, Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said at a press conference in Brussels before the NATO ministerial meeting.
"This will help Georgia to be even closer to NATO," he said.
Rasmussen once again stressed the importance of an open door policy, as it will benefit not only the countries wishing to become full members of the military-political bloc, but the alliance itself.
"Our basic principles are unchanged. We support countries in the integration process into NATO. No country will stop this process," he said.
Georgia is actively preparing for the NATO Wales summit on September 4-5, 2014 and intends to get a NATO Membership Action Plan.
Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze earlier noted that NATO Secretary General agrees that Georgia's progress must be adequately assessed.
