Georgian FM, Estonian president discuss coop, European integration

Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze paid an official visit to Estonia on January 30-31, during which she met with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves to discuss various issues including bilateral and multilateral co-operation and Georgia's cooperation with European and Euro-Atlantic organizations.

According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry website, the sides also discussed the current political processes in Georgia, Georgian-Russian relations, the situation in Georgia's occupied territories and the importance of the Geneva talks format. Both sides underlined the importance of enhancing economic and cultural relations between the two countries. The Estonian side also reaffirmed the government's support at the highest level for Georgia's territorial integrity, sovereignty and European integration.

Panjikidze also held meetings with Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, Chairman of the Estonian Parliament's EU Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson, and Culture Minister Rein Lang.

Following the meetings, the parties signed an agreement on the exchange and mutual protection of classified information and held a joint press conference at the Estonian Foreign Ministry.

During her visit, Panjikidze also visited the Estonian Center of Eastern Partnership (ECEAP) and met the center's management, as well as gave an interview to Postimees, Estonia's largest daily newspaper.
