Georgia struggling with Crimean-Congo fever

One more case of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever has been
registered in Shida Kartli region of Georgia.
The symptoms of the disease was revealed in a resident of the region about a week ago.
Vaccination of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever is being conducted in Shida Kartli region.
In April, two people died from the disease in Georgia and another thirteen cases of infection have been identified in Khashuri region.
Recently, as many as five people, one of them, a six years old girl are treated in the Infectious Diseases Hospital of Tbilisi.
This is a very dangerous disease, but if the inflicted person visits doctor timely, he or she can avoid the consequences.
National Center for Disease Control and Public Health of Georgia noted that there is no reason for concern about the disease.
Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever is a widespread tick borne viral
disease, a zoonosis of domestic animals and wild animals, that may
affect humans.
The length of the incubation period depends on the mode of
acquisition of the virus. Following infection by a tick bite, the
incubation period is usually one to three days, with a maximum of
nine days.
