Japan to build medical point in Azerbaijani village

Azerbaijan and Japan have agreed on construction of the medical facility in Gizilagaj village of Goychay region.

The signing ceremony of the relevant grant contract was held at the executive authorities within the framework of Grassroots and Human Security Grant Association Program provided by the Japanese government.

The contract was signed by Japanese ambassador Tsuguo Takahashi and chairman of the Local Governance Assistance Public Union Vusal Mirzayev, AzerTag news agency reported.

Ambassador Takahashi said six projects have been implemented in Goychay region so far, including this one.

The Japanese ambassador was also informed on the region`s geographic position, its history, socio-economic development.

The project envisages construction of a new medical station to improve the quality of medical services for the residents of Gizilagaj village and surrounding villages. The total cost of the project is $103.077.

The overall amount of Japan's Official Development Assistance provided for Azerbaijan is more than $1 billion, covering a wide range of areas such as improvement of economic infrastructure, agricultural and social sectors, culture as well as human capacity development.
