Kazakhstan is going to give around $2 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in 2014.

The news was announced by Kazakh Minister of Emergency Situations Vladimir Bozhko during a 'government hour' at the Majilis of the Kazakh parliament, Trend Agency reported.

"Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations has set aside around $1,985,917 worth of food to render official humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in 2014," Bozhko said.

He said the ministry has sent humanitarian aid to other countries facing natural disasters six times in 2013.

Restoring stability to Afghanistan and its economic rehabilitation are among the most important issues in Kazakhstan's foreign policy. It indicates serious efforts aimed at facilitating reconstructions in the country, as this issue plays an important role in the long-term security, peace, and stability of Central Asia.

Kazakhstan undertook a number of steps like providing Afghanistan with $1 million in humanitarian aid and creating the Kazakh-Afghan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation in 2006-2009.

Under the governmental action plan on assistance to Afghanistan for 2009-2011, Kazakhstan allocated $5 million to projects on water supply, infrastructure development, and delivery of grains and other commodities.
