Investment agencies of member countries of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) have signed a memorandum of understanding in Istanbul, Azerbaijan's Economic Development Ministry said on June 29.

From the Azerbaijani side, the document was signed by the head of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Rufat Mammadov.

The memo was inked in conclusion of the third meeting of CCTS economy ministers in the Turkish city.

In remarks at the meeting, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev said the country attaches great importance to developing ties with Turkic states, adding that President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly emphasized this during CCTS summits.

According to Mustafayev, the policy pursued by the Azerbaijani president supports trade, investment cooperation and development of relations among the entrepreneurs of Turkic-speaking countries.

It was noted that steady growth has been observed in the member states of the Council despite the global crisis.

Mustafayev underscored that the purposeful social and economic policy of Azerbaijan has resulted in macroeconomic stability, sustainable development as well as the creation of a conducive business and investment climate.

Turkey holds a special place among foreign countries where Azerbaijani businessmen invest, Mustafayev said.

Participants emphasized that as a result of large-scale events, Azerbaijan has become an investment exporting country and Azerbaijani entrepreneurs place funds in friendly countries.

The successful activity of Azerbaijani businessmen in Turkey, as well as Azerbaijan's being among the leading countries in terms of the amount of investment in Turkish companies with foreign capital, is "the embodiment of the relations between the two countries that are strengthening by the day", Mustafayev said.

The Istanbul meeting was also attended by Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan, CCTS Secretary General Halil Akinci, head of Turkey-Azerbaijan Business Council (ATIB) Cengiz Gul, as well as other officials and representatives of the business circles of the two countries.
