Russian embassy opens condolence book on airliner crash

The Russian embassy in Baku has opened a condolence book to commemorate those killed in the Russian Kogalymavia Airbus-321 crash in the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.

The book of condolence was opened in the embassy on November 2. It will be open also on November 3 between 10.00 am and 12.00 and between 15.00 and 17.00” in the Embassy.

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Elchin Efendiyev already signed the book of condolence, offering his sympathy to Russian people and leadership on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev and Azerbaijan’s government.

Earlier, a mass rally in memory of the victims took place in front of the Russian Embassy in Baku. People come to the embassy in the morning on Sunday. Near the facade of the embassy they left bouquets and notes, depicting “The tears. The pain in heart! We morn."

The Russian airliner, carrying 217 passengers and seven crew members crashed in the Sinai Peninsula en route from the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh to St. Petersburg on October 31.

All people on board, including 25 children, were confirmed dead by Russian and Egyptian authorities. Russian state media reported that many of the 217 passengers on Kogalymavia Flight 9268 were Russians returning from vacation.
