Iran has showcased a new domestically manufactured rocket launcher and tactical vehicle.
It unveiled the homemade rocket launcher named "Falagh" and a new tactical heavy vehicle dubbed "Zafar", during a ceremony attended by Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan on October 2.
Dehghan said the Falagh launcher is designed for launching Falagh-1 (240 mm) and Falagh-2 (333 mm) rockets and is one of the most powerful land weapons, Tasnim news agency reported.
He added that the surface-to-surface Falagh launcher is capable of destroying targets within a range of 10 kilometers.
Dehghan went on to note that the portable launcher has short deploy and launch time, and is highly mobile.
He said military units can use Falaq 1 and Falaq 2 rockets which enjoy heavy fire capability to target enemy posts.
Regarding the heavy vehicle Zafar, Dehghan said the vehicle could carry all types of launchers, missiles, rockets and command posts.
The vehicle can move smoothly in impassable areas and is capable of carrying 24 metric tons of cargo within a range of 800 kilometers, he underlined.
Iran unveiled its first homemade fighter drone that carries air-to-air missiles on September 23. Reportedly, the drone is capable of destroying all types of aircrafts including fighters, small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and helicopters.
In recent years, Iran has taken great strides in defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems. Iran has so far unveiled various domestically produced drones, including Ababil, Fotros, Hazem, Karrar (long range attack drone), Mohajer, Sarir, Shahed 129, Yasir and Zohal.
Iran has also conducted several military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.
Since 1992, Iran has manufactured its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles, radars, boats, submarines and fighter planes. Tehran has frequently announced that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
