Kazakhstan, Hungary agree on strategic partnership
Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Karim Massimov and his Hungarian
counterpart Viktor Orban signed a joint declaration on strategic
partnership.
The declaration was signed within Massimov's official visit to
Budapest on June 3, Kazakh Prime Minister's website reported.
During the intergovernmental negotiations the parties noted that
Kazakhstan is the largest trading partner of Hungary among the CIS
countries.
They noted the high potential for expanding bilateral cooperation,
especially in trade and economic sphere.
The meeting also mulled a wide range of issues in trade and
economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation was.
In particular, the parties considered the prospects for bilateral
cooperation in the oil and gas industry, agriculture, development
of non-oil sectors of the economy, and investment sphere.
"We need to bring Kazakh-Hungarian relations to a qualitatively new
level of strategic partnership," Massimov stated. "There are all
prerequisites and necessary legal framework for meeting this
goal."
Orban, in turn, noted the mutually beneficial cooperation with
Kazakhstan in various spheres of economy.
The Kazakh side invited his Hungarian counterpart to pay a return
visit to Kazakhstan.
During the visit, Massimov also took part in the inauguration of
Astana Street in the center of Budapest and the memorial bust of
Kazakh poet Abay Kunanbayev.
