Portal established to prevent illegal visits to Nagorno-Karabakh
By Sara Rajabova
Azerbaijan has created an information portal to prevent illegal visits to Azerbaijan’s occupied territory – Nagorno-Karabakh.
The announcement was made by Emil Huseynli, the chairman of the "Support to the development of youth" Düşüncə" in an event in Kiev, dedicated to the presentation of the project.
The goal is to inform the world community about the truth of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and prevent illegal visits to the Armenian occupied territories.
He noted that in the course of the project, implemented with the financial support of the Council of State Support to NGOs under the Azerbaijani president, a new information portal for the prevention of illegal visits to Nagorno-Karabakh will be established. The information portal will operate in five languages - Azerbaijani, Russian, English, German and French.
Huseynli went on to say that today, one of the priorities of the Azerbaijani government is to prevent illegal visits to Nagorno-Karabakh.
He also informed that educational work will be carried out to prevent foreign nationals from misleading and visiting the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh.
Rovshan Tagiyev, the chairman of the Joint Congress of Ukrainian Azerbaijanis said the creation of such information portal is significant.
Elmar Mamedov, the chairman of the Azerbaijan-Ukraine international alliance said Azerbaijan should support such projects as to bring the truth about Nagorno-Karabakh to the world community’s attention.
Azerbaijan’s foreign ministry and diplomatic missions pay special attention to illegal activities in the occupied areas of Azerbaijan. The work is constantly carried out to prevent illegal actions and visits.
Unauthorized visits to Nagorno-Karabakh and other regions of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia are considered illegal, and individuals who pay such visits are included in Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's "black list".
Azerbaijan has repeatedly warned foreign officials and diplomats against such unauthorized visits to those territories under Armenian occupation; calling them contradictory to international laws.
Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s. Long-standing efforts by U.S., Russian and French mediators have been largely fruitless so far.
