A tree planting action has been held, following the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the International Dialogue for Environmental Action Public Association IDEA, in the Narimanov district of Baku.

During the action, 30 trees were planted in the place of 22 Eldar pines and olive trees burnt as a result of the fire occurred at the crossroad of 20, T.Shykhaliyev Street and 7, K.Kazimzadeh Street on June 5.

The objective of holding this action was to restore the verdure killed as a result of the fire, rehabilitate environmental balance in the territory, speed up sanitation of the environment, contribute to fertilization of the existing topsoil, and propagandize ecological culture and care for the nature among people.

Along with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Association, representatives of the Narimanov District Executive Authority participated in the action.

Earlier, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA Public Association have launched a joint program called "STOP Cutting Down Trees!"

The foundation and the public association have embarked on the program with a view to addressing environmental challenges and strengthening the public's control over the environment.

A hotline, "Emergency care for nature" and a mobile group were set up within the program.

The IDEA is implementing large-scale local and international projects to protect the environment and promote innovative approaches to solving environmental problems.

The campaign is based on the principles of dialogue, action, leadership, and education - all the essential components for equipping a generation with means of fostering positive and sustainable environmental change.

One of the notable activities of the IDEA during three years of its existence is a massive tree planting campaign in which more than 3,472,000 trees have been planted.
