Baku, Ankara highlight successful development of friendly ties

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Ali Babacan, the deputy prime minister of Turkey on May 12.
Noting that Turkey was elected to leadership of G-20 and would host all events of this influential organization, Babacan once again invited President Aliyev on behalf of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to participate in these events, AzerTag news agency reported.
Babacan said the presence of fraternal Azerbaijan in G-20 events together with Turkey was of special importance.
He also stressed the importance of Baku`s hosting the First European Games, expressing confidence that the event would be held at the highest level.
President Aliyev, for his part, hailed Turkey`s heading G-20 as triumph of the fraternal country, saying Azerbaijan was happy for this.
He also described this as a manifestation of the leading world countries` high attitude towards Turkey`s role.
President Aliyev once again thanked President Erdogan for his invitation to G-20, adding this was a vivid example of two countries’ friendship and fraternity, and the main factor which demonstrates the Turkish-Azerbaijani unity to the world.
The president said Azerbaijan was preparing to this prestigious event, and stressed the importance of a special meeting on this, running in Baku.
President Aliyev also praised high-level organization of the events marking the 100th anniversary of Canakkale Victory and highlighted the importance of participation of the heads of state and government of many countries in this event.
The sides also stressed the successfully developing friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries in all fields, expressing confidence that these ties would be expanded even further.
Babacan arrived in Azerbaijan on May 12 to take part in the B20 Regional Consultation Forum organized in Baku.
Azerbaijan-Turkey relations have always been strong due to a common culture and history and the mutual intelligibility of Turkish and Azerbaijani languages.
Turkey was the first country in the world to recognize Azerbaijan's independence in 1991 and has been a staunch supporter of Azerbaijan in its efforts to consolidate its independence, preserve its territorial integrity, and realize its economic potential that arise from the rich natural resources of the Caspian Sea.
