Georgian former parliamentary speaker talks about special intelligence services’ surveillance over him
Former speaker of the Georgian Parliament David Bakradze, who is one of leaders of the United National Movement, was under video surveillance.
"As the members of the Commission, who viewed the illegally shot scenes of video surveillance, informed me, there are also shots with me, but I have no idea what has been shot there," Bakradze told local television in a live conversation.
According to the ex-speaker, he didn't know that many popular people in the country were under the Georgian Interior Ministry's surveillance.
Bakradze, who submitted his documents to the Georgian Central Election Commission as a candidate for president from the United National Movement, stressed that now he should do his best for the perpetrators to be punished.
Totally, around 12,000 surveillance tapes of many famous persons' private lives were revealed in Georgia. A final decision on destruction of these records hasn't been made so far.
