Recent presidential election is turning point in Iran’s history, Rohani says

The recent presidential elections held in Iran are a turning point in the country's history, the newly elected president of Iran Hassan Rohani believes.

During the meeting with officials of the IRIB news agency in Tehran Rohani appreciated mass participation of Iranians in the elections and said that legal base of the Islamic system is directed to the people.

He also said that national economy should be managed by people under the control of the government. The same should be implemented in the cultural field, he added.

Rohani went on to say that Iranian people always was loyal to moderateness and avoided extremism. During the presidential elections in the country the people proved that they are seeking justice, ethics, moderateness and compliance of their rights, Rohani believes.

The next administration will work on the grounds of law and nobody should be above the law, he mentioned.

Furthermore, during his speech at the IRINN TV channel, Rohani said that he will promote foreign policy based on the moderateness and respect to the world.

He said the antagonist wanted to show the false picture of Iran. However, it will be disproved as a result of Iran's cooperation and trust building with other nations.

"Iran would play a decisive role in this historical epoch. Iran is the greatest power in the region. We should analyze the failures and mistakes made in the past and build the future," Rohani said.

Rohani gathered 50.7 percent of votes of electors during the presidential elections held in Iran on June 14.
