Georgia to join European Energy Association by October

By Jamila Babayeva
Georgia will join the European Energy Association in six to eight months, European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger said at a joint press conference with Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze on February 20.
Oettinger said joining the association envisages certain obligations, and the benefit to be obtained from this is also well described.
"Last week we discussed our expectations on how to reach a common goal," he said. "I am optimistic. I believe that ultimately we will achieve results in six to eight months. There is no exact date but this will happen by October."
Oettinger, who is on a visit to Tbilisi, will also meet with the Prime Minister, Minister of Energy and Economy and State Minister for European integration during his visit.
Oettinger will attend an international energy conference in Tbilisi.
