Kiev to host Turkmenistan-Ukraine business forum

Kiev will host the next meeting of the Turkmen- Ukrainian business forum and exhibition on November 4-5.

The Turkmen government reported that the country will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister Palvan Taganov, who delivered a report on the preparation of the business forum at a governmental meeting.

The working program of the event, which aims to discuss the counter-proposals and coordination of joint measures to increase the bilateral trade and economic cooperation, was delivered for the president's consideration.

Noting the high economic potential of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Ukraine, the President called such forums contributing to the establishment of direct business contacts and increasing mutual trade turnover as an effective instrument of developing the bilateral partnership.

President Berdimuhamedov discussed the implementation of earlier agreements on a number of key areas and the possibility of implementing new investment projects by giving instructions on the coordination of the relevant bodies' activity.

The diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Ukraine were established in 1992. The two countries signed more than 100 documents on various levels - inter-state, intergovernmental and interdepartmental during this period.

The Turkmen- Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was established. Major joint projects, including the construction of industrial and infrastructure facilities, are being implemented.
