Armenia dissatisfied with Iranian support for Azerbaijan in Karabakh conflict

The visit of the Iranian General Mohammad Bagheri to Azerbaijan and his statement that Nagorno-Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan caused a surge of disturbances in Armenian society.

Now, Armenians demand from Nikol Pashinyan to make a visit to Iran as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, some members of the Armenian parliament expressed their opinion on their country's neighbors in the region, including Iran, calling it an authoritarian country. This was said in the sense that the only democracy in the region at the moment is Georgia and Armenia, and Iran needs to be pulled up to them.

The definition given to Iran has excited the Armenian public. As a result, MP Hayk Kondjoryan had to justify himself, convincing that he was misunderstood. He admitted that this statement was a mistake, which will not happen again, assuring that in no case does not detract from the southern neighbor.

Such a violent reaction to the wording addressed to Tehran is far from accidental and the MP would not have been criticized if the head of the Iranian General Staff had not visited Baku.

Earlier, Lieutenant-General Mohammad Bagheri arrived in Azerbaijan on January 16, at the invitation of the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov.

At a meeting with the Azerbaijani minister, Bagheri noted the historical ties of the two states in all areas and stressed that Iran supports the territorial integrity and fair position of Azerbaijan in resolving the conflict and will provide it with comprehensive support.

In addition, the statement by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that Russia is preparing a trilateral summit with the participation of Iran and Azerbaijan has finally shocked the Armenians.

Lavrov said that the parties are preparing such a summit and expressed confidence that the summit will take place.

Any mention of the formats with the participation of Azerbaijan, created by the allies of Armenia in the region, makes the Armenian side feel hopeless. Armenia already cannot compete with Azerbaijan by any parameters, and it retains at least some attention to itself through certain losses.

Armenians immediately began to comment on the reasons for the Bagheri visit. The comments demonstrate that no new tools have appeared for the Armenian ruling circles to apply to the topic of Iranian-Azerbaijani relations.

The warm relations between Azerbaijan and Israel are especially annoying to Armenian experts and politicians, who are constantly awaiting complications between Baku and Tehran. The Armenian side strongly hints at Iranian partners at all levels that Baku is buying modern weapons, drones and missile systems from Israel.

Unfortunately for Armenian politicians, Iran understands that Azerbaijan is acquiring Israeli weapons for the specific purpose of liberating the territories occupied by Armenia, and not war with its neighbors.

Remarkable, that Armenian media try not to mention in their comments the Bagheri words about supporting the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Noteworthy, that for eight months after the political changes in Armenia, there were no serious visits and discussions between Iranian and Armenian leaders. Although Pashinyan stated that a visit to Iran is one of the priorities for Armenia.

Well, it became a tradition for the Armenian prime minister to mislead his own people with unreal promises.
