Turkey to store 4 bcm of gas in storage facilities

Given the growing demand for natural gas in Turkey, and its existing annual gas consumption of 40 billion cubic meters, Ankara should store at least four billion cubic meters of gas, the official representative of Turkish state pipeline company Botas Gazi Dulger said, Trend news agency reported, referring to Anadolu agency.

According to Dulger, Turkey has developed a project geared towards the creation of underground gas storage facilities, implementation of which will be completed by 2019.

The gas storage facility, which will be constructed under Lake Tuz, will consist of 12 wells and will have a storage capacity of one billion cubic meters.

The project, worth $ 640 million, will be implemented by the Chinese company China Tianchen Engineering Corporation, Dulger said.

Today, in Turkey, there is one gas storage facility in Silivri owned by TPAO oil company, capable of containing 2.6 billion cubic meters of gas.
