President Aliyev to attend opening of Winter Olympic Games in Sochi

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, accompanied by his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva, embarked on a working visit to Russia to attend the official opening of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi on February 6.
The 22nd Olympic Winter Games will be kicked off in Sochi on February 7. The Games will last until February 23 in Sochi in Krasnodar, the third largest region in Russia.
During his working visit, President Aliyev met Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius in Sochi.
The Head of State and the Lithuanian Premier praised relations between their countries, saying there were good opportunities for developing these ties. They discussed prospects for expanding the bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, particularly in energy sector.
President Aliyev also met with the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Sochi. They hailed Azerbaijan-Qatar relations, in particular in the field of politics, and noted the importance of strengthening efforts to expand the bilateral cooperation.
The sides discussed prospects for expanding Azerbaijan-Qatar economic cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, investment making, tourism and agriculture, as well as in establishing joint enterprises.
