PACE co-rapporteurs meet leaders of political parties in Azerbaijan

The co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Pedro Agramunt and Joseph Debono Grech, who are on a visit to Baku, have met with representatives of political parties and the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy and State Building Ali Huseynli in the Milli Mejlis (Parliament).

At a meeting with Huseynli, the co-rapporteurs held discussions on commitments made by Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe.

The sides mainly discussed bringing some of the provisions of the Azerbaijani legislation in line with European law.

The co-rapporteurs expressed interest in the implementation of the document adopted by the Monitoring Committee in January.

The meeting of the co-rapporteurs with representatives of political parties was attended by the deputy executive secretary of the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Mubariz Gurbanli, chairman of the Party of Social Welfare Khanhuseyn Kyazymly, chairman of the Civil Solidarity Party Sabir Rustamkhanli and chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party Asim Mollazade.

The parties discussed issues of European integration, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and other issues.

Then the meeting was behind closed doors.
