Refugees and internally displaced persons residing in the dormitories of Baku State University will be moved into a settlement founded in the village of Mushvigabad starting February-March, Trend news agency reported.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov at a meeting to discuss measures to be taken under the 'State Program on improvement of living conditions and employment of refugees and internally displaced persons' in 2013.

The resettlement process will begin with the advent of better weather conditions. Children of the refugees residing in the university dormitory will continue their studies at the village schools, Hasanov said.

Eight settlements and 4000 apartments will be built for refugees and internally displaced persons in 2013. About 20,000 IDPs will be provided with apartments, Hasanov said.

About 300 million manat was sought for this purpose from the state budget this year.

"Construction of a settlement with 25 five-storey buildings in Ganja and 15 five-storey buildings on the site of a refugee camp in Barda is currently underway," he said.

He added that such buildings will be constructed in Absheron, Imishli, Garadagh, Ismayilli, Balaken and the Gabala regions of Azerbaijan.
