Alexandria library to create catalog of Nizami Ganjavi heritage

Alexandria library is designing a catalog of the literary heritage of great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi.

Preliminary measures are being taken under the leadership of director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and co-chairman of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center Ismail Serageldin, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan reported.

The catalog will include the contacts of world scientists engaged in researching Nizami Ganjavi's heritage, data on the location of all the existing copies of the manuscripts "Khamsa", as well as works, list of books, studies, and articles dedicated to his heritage.

Nizami Ganjavi, the greatest representative of the Eastern Renaissance in the 12th century displayed the quintessence of world literature and philosophy in his immortal work Khamsa (Five) via the aesthetic power of his art.

Nizami's poems played a great role in the enrichment of the love theme, a widespread one in Oriental literature, with social and universal ideals and humane content.

Earlier, the Nizami Ganjavi International Center reported that its members are working hard on Nizami Ganjavi's poems, including Khamsa, and their works would be published in different languages along with the world's most renowned researchers of the heritage of the great Azerbaijani poet.

The publishing is aimed at promoting Nizami Ganjavi and the values underlying his works all over the world. Examination of archives has already started in India, the U.S., the Arab Republic of Egypt, the UK, and France.
